Reading about difficulties people are experiencing with long term IBM AIX nmon performance data storage, we decided to solve the issue using our RG Solutions Capacity Management database. Here is a problem we identified.
The following chart shows Page Faults over a 60-day period. Daily Page Fault levels were “normal” until 14th February when there was a sudden increase.
To investigate this further, we examined the IBM AIX nmon Paging data for 14th February to see when the issue started:
Clearly, the issue started at 12:00. More detailed analysis in RG Solutions allowed us to pinpoint the Process which caused this increase.
